FROM THE PRESIDENT’S DESK
The Way I See It

On June 1st, we became a part of Vidant Health, and our services are developing quickly.

One of the primary reasons to be a part of this successful system is to bring new specialists and specialty services to the patients in our region. It’s no secret that rural hospitals across the country face challenges with recruitment; however, new physicians can be more effectively recruited if they are able to join a coordinated system of care, like Vidant Health. These specialists such as oncologists, pulmonologists, neurologists and more, will provide local services and allow patients to stay closer to home and family.

We have begun plans to go live with the Vidant Health EPIC Electronic Medical Record system. This world-class electronic medical record system eliminates the fragmentation of records from different doctors and hospitals that can be so frustrating to patients. Vidant Health was the first health system in North Carolina to install this highly effective information system, and we are excited to make the transition as well.

The most important advantage of Vidant Health is its people. Combining our team members has allowed us to develop our services, reduce wait times and work to improve the overall experience for our patients. We have recruited new nurses to work alongside our existing nursing leaders. Barbara Moore, RN, was recently recognized as one of the Great 100 Nurses of North Carolina. She was recognized with 10 other nurses from Vidant Health. They exhibit the excellence that Halifax Regional and Vidant Health offer our patients and families every day.

Your partner in a healthier community,

WILL MAHONE, PRESIDENT
