New Doctor Joins Emergency Staff at Halifax Regional
George A. Melone, Jr. MD is Board Certified Emergency Physician
ROANOKE RAPIDS, NC – (June 22, 2007) – George A. Melone, Jr. MD, a Board Certified emergency physician, now is seeing patients at in the Emergency Care Center at Halifax Regional.

Melone is a graduate of the Stritch School of Medicine at Loyola University of Chicago and completed his residency at the North Carolina Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem.
He has 19 years of emergency medicine experience and has worked in a number of emergency rooms throughout eastern North Carolina, including Betsy Johnson Regional Hospital in Dunn, Onslow Memorial in Jacksonville and Community Hospital in Rocky Mount.
“The Emergency Care Center at Halifax Regional is well-equipped to handle whatever comes in the door,” Melone said. “I have been impressed with how well the staff works together and by the quality of care that is provided,” he said.
“The addition of Dr. Melone to our medical staff will definitely benefit our patients,” said Ted Westover, MD, Medical Director. “Melone holds a special interest for critical care patients. Dr. Melone’s experience with those patients will serve him well due to the nature of injuries we treat from traffic accidents on I-95 and industry.”
Melone is accustomed to the challenges that come with patients who have complex wounds and has an understanding of how to best treat these injuries, Westover continued. Melone is employed by Halifax Emergency Group, which staffs the Emergency Care Center. |
