For Immediate Release HALIFAX REGIONAL NURSES TO BE HONORED
ROANOKE RAPIDS, NC – (May 21, 2008) – Nurses from across the Roanoke Valley and beyond will be honored Friday at the District 17 North Carolina Nurses Association’s Light-a-Candle ceremony. This year, an anonymous donor has made a generous contribution to the Light-a-Candle program in honor of all the nurses working at Halifax Regional. Each of the 318 registered nurses and licensed practical nurses from the Medical Center will have a luminary symbolizing the dedicated service they provide their patients. “Our nurses are dedicated to the well-being of their patients, and that is the satisfaction they derive from their professions,” said Karen Daniels, Vice President of Nursing. “Recognition such as this has a special impact on our nurses, and they are grateful for the support of this program.” The luminaries for the Halifax Regional nurses and other nurses to be honored and remembered will be lit at dusk. Funds raised during the Light-a-Candle event will be used to provide scholarships to nursing students from the area. Halifax Regional nurses are gaining a statewide reputation for their excellence. Last year, four registered nurses from Halifax Regional were among the 100 nurses honored statewide. Halifax Regional also received the “Hallmarks for Healthy Workplaces” award from the North Carolina Nurses Association. |
