Joint Care

If you need knee, hip or shoulder replacement surgery, you can benefit from a team of professionals who are focused on delivering results in a caring, innovative and success-oriented environment.

At Halifax Regional Medical Center, skilled teams of orthopedic surgeons, anesthetists, registered nurses and patient care technicians work closely with patients and family members to provide total knee, hip or shoulder replacements. Many patients who receive joint replacements stay in the Joint Care Center of Excellence.

The Joint Care Center is a dedicated joint replacement center within Halifax Regional. Most patients staying in the Joint Care Center can expect a three-day stay with physical therapy and group therapy in a competitive atmosphere.

The Joint Care Center offers:

  • Nurses and therapists who specialize in the care of joint patients
  • Private rooms
  • Emphasis on group activities as well as individual care
  • Family and friends educated to participate as “coaches” in the recovery process

Why Choose the Joint Care Center?

The Joint Care Center has achieved the Advanced Certification for Total Hip and Total Knee Replacement from the Joint Commission.

It was so convenient to not have to travel a long way for my procedure. From the pre-orientation to my recovery from the procedure, everything was great. The Center’s staff was top notch and very accommodating to patients’ needs, even at night. I rarely ever had to push a call button because a staff member was right there to take care of everything I needed!
