How Hospitalists Help Patients

Get prompt answers to your questions
Our hospitalists offer 24-hour inpatient coverage. There is always a hospitalist in the Medical Center, so questions can be answered quickly and patient care is a clear priority.

See a familiar face
Since the hospitalists at Halifax Regional work seven consecutive days, they usually see the same patients throughout their hospital stay, thus improving the continuity of care for patients. In the event that you have a change in orders, rest assured they do have a detailed handoff during which your hosptial stay and course of treatment are discussed.

Get more personal attention
Hospitalists can often spend more time with patients because they are on-site. Unlike a general physician, hospitalists aren’t restricted to just making “rounds” to see all of their hospitalized patients on a certain day. Hospitalists are available to patients and their families throughout their workday.

More convenient care
Hospitalists are more familiar with the Medical Center than a physician who might only visit the Medical Center a few times a week. That means hospitalists know how to get things done efficiently and effectively with less inconvenience to the patient. After all, the Medical Center is their workplace, so hospitalists know and understand how systems work, where facilities and staff members are, and what has to be done to provide the care their patients need.
