If you’re looking for a way to give back to the community you love, consider one of the many volunteer opportunities at Halifax Regional Medical Center. No specific skills or experience are needed to volunteer with Halifax. Our 60+ volunteers come from all walks of life and all backgrounds.

Volunteer opportunities are available in almost every department of the hospital:

• Sitting in the ICU and taking calls from doctors
• Volunteering as a patient and family advisor
• Working in the gift shop
• Walking prescriptions from the pharmacy to various floors
• Delivering mail packages throughout the hospital
• Manning the front desk of the hospital
• And much more!

You can even volunteer from home, knitting baby blankets for the newest members of our community.

Some departments of the hospital rely 100% on the generosity of our volunteers, like the gift shop, which is staffed completely by volunteers. Other departments, like pharmacy, wouldn’t operate nearly as efficiently or as quickly without the support of volunteers.

How to Volunteer With Halifax

While no particular skills are needed to volunteer, you must pass a background check, have a TB skin test and receive a flu shot every flu season.
